A Time for Everything
3 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
9 What do people really get for all their hard work? 10 I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
I decided to begin this blog with this verse because there has definitely been a shift in seasons. It’s so important that we discern the seasons we are in. There will be seasons of running, and seasons of rest, seasons where you are in the forefront, and seasons where you are in the background. Whatever season the Lord has you in, make sure that you learn everything that is needed in that season. Preparation precedes performance. We have to make sure that we are always preparing within our season.
I know many of you have been wondering what’s up with me. I receive emails about when will I release my next book, am I pregnant, am I still doing that business? Etc.
So I have decided to update all of you, who have followed me faithfully over the years; and to share some exciting updates!
Prego or No?
No I’m not pregnant…. YET! But for those who believe the Lord’s promises with us, just keep praying. J We have total peace regarding God’s timing and know that pregnancy is happening! I’ve already told God I trust Him but sheesh, I don’t want to be the next Abraham and Sarah. LOL Cut me a break! We are both healthy and well so now it’s just all up to the good Lawd! Oh and of course we have to do our part by ummm “having A LOT of praise and worship, like all the time” (the churchy way of saying having sex! LOL).
(I am SO in love with him. <3)
So for the past year my husband and I have been faithful members of Metro Church DC! We were attending a year before the Lord led us to join. Can I just be honest with ya’ll and say transitions are hard!!? Having transitioned from an awesome ministry we were at for several years; because of obedience to the voice of God was not easy! So many people thought we weren’t hearing from God and questioned our loyalty. But we learned a lot! God honors you when you honor His voice above man. And when you are obedient to His voice some amazing things happen! Fast-forward to the present, my husband and I have grown so much closer to one another and to God. We absolutely LOVE our church! We are teaching one of our Growth Track classes together on Spiritual Formation 101, and Jeff is developing in his calling as a Campus Pastor. He is officially working full time in ministry. (I can’t believe I just said that, because I’m still in disbelief lol). We always knew there was a pastoral leadership gift there, as much as we never wanted to admit it.
James 3:1-“Dear brothers and sisters,[a] not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
These are not things that we sought after. Who really wants to be judged and held accountable more strictly? It’s definitely a serious responsibility, yet we are learning that God has graced and called us as a family. In fact, when we transitioned to this ministry we had no idea what the Lord would do in our lives. We are learning and growing so much and just excited to serve His church together. Our pastors are amazing humble teachers of the Bible. So if you want to be a part of a church that is Real, Relevant, and Enjoyable you definitely want to visit!
If you ever want to visit our church, shoot me a message and I’ll make sure you have the VIP treatment from me! <3
Last year it seemed like I was always on the mission field. 2015 was an exploratory year for me. I knew God was leading me to go on these trips but I also knew that I wasn’t called to full-time missions. My husband definitely knew that wasn’t God lol. I love immersing myself into other cultures for short spurts of time. Yet every time I would return home I would feel a heavy burden to support long-term missionaries, church planters, or pastors who gave their lives to this particular cause. I would see how they had to raise their own financial support and often did not have the funds for self-care. I knew that in 2016, I would focus on developing and launching the non-profit the Lord had birthed in my heart. On October 22nd, From My Block to Yours (FMBTY) will officially launch!
This is my birthday gift to myself and to the world. (My birthday is 10/3) I wanted to do something that would help provide sustainability amongst the “ChangeMakers” who live their every day life poured out to others. Our website will launch that day, we will honor some of our first round of ChangeMakers, and you will learn how you can partner and make a difference! We are an organization that loves on the lovers and cares for the caretakers. In addition to learning about FMBTY, we are going to also party to some 90’s music and celebrate my 35th birthday!! I cannot wait to party with a purpose with you! So get your tickets because they are beginning to sell fast! Get your tickets here!
Yes, I am still working my it Works Global business! Why wouldn’t I? My family and I love the products, we use the products and we get to help others. Not trying to sound like an infomercial but its true. Let me be very transparent with you guys. I started this business just to make 500 extra dollars a month. I had no idea it would be something I did full time. I was laid off from my government job my second month of working this business. After praying, I knew the Lord had given me the ok to stay at home. God blessed this business to take care of my husband and I for 4 years now. We have been able to help a TON of women pay off debt, lose weight, better their skin and more! So this is why I continue to help others through this business. It’s simply the vehicle God has provided to have the start up money for our non-profit and so much more.
This year, I became a part owner of a fabulous boutique called HHHG Luxe! We specialize in affordable fashion for the Savvy and Sophisticated woman! I love fashion, and I love being able to do business with my powerful sister-friends! This boutique encompasses all of our styles! My favorite items are from our “Relaxed Collection” like this outfit!
I am also the co-founder of High Heels High Goals (HHHG)! Our mission is to empower educate and engage the entrepreneur and professional woman. HHHG also has a non-profit arm that gives start up money to women who are starting their business and helps teen moms! I love our mission and its awesome getting to do this alongside Ronnessa Brown who is the founder.
During this season of my life, I have been learning to be “Present Over Perfect.” (Which is an amazing book if you haven’t read it; my review is coming soon.) I have been enjoying time with my family, reconnecting with close friends, increasing my time with God, and loving on my husband.
I have been intentionally turning down some engagements, and accepting the speaking engagements that are in line with my personal mission. I have been learning to say, “No” to things that don’t line up with the season that I am in. I have been focusing on building this non-profit to the glory of God. I have been adapting to new roles in ministry, spending a ton of time with my family and pouring into them.
(my husband and I with some of my crazy cousins, but I love them so much!)
I have been praying about re-releasing my books in the New Year with some different editions to them. I will keep you all posted! There is a Time for Everything and its important that we know what season/time we are in!
I know this was a lot, and I’ll attempt blog more frequently after the From My Block to Yours is launched! Thank you all for subscribing, following, supporting and praying over the years! There are a lot of new roles and opportunities my husband and I are walking into and we thank you for praying for us in this chapter. I don’t take it for granted and hope to see some of you at our non-profit launch/my 90’s birthday party!!!
God bless you guys,
Jennifer Lucy Tyler
